If you were to keep careful track of what you did with your money, you would probably be amazed to find how much of it slips through your fingers each day. Whenever I begin to talk to friends or students of mine about getting an electric bicycle or an electric scooter, they almost, without fail, begin to tell me that they do not have the money to purchase one.
Most of the latest electric cars can do about 85 miles an hour. But, for a range of only about 90 miles and an eight-hour recharge. One lap at the Isle of Man TT and an electric bike is flat! How could you watch that? How could you even justify the action of pulling on a pair of leather motorcycle gloves to do that? The sight of a racing bike leaning into a sweeper without the characteristic sound of accelerating internal combustion power is completely incomprehensible. Sacrilege even! No, only when something better is invented, is it time to develop serious bikes and cars.
Over in Europe the Razor Pocket Rocket was extremely popular before actually hitting the states. It’s a complete replica of the racing bikes out there today and with a torque motor and 15mph speeds, everyone enjoys them. The aerodynamics are quite familiar and the tires are 10 inches. It also comes with a pit stand and tools that keep everything in excellent condition. Plus you get 40 minutes of riding time from the time the battery is fully charged. If you need to recharge it you will have to hook it up for around 12 hours. Also, it can support up to about 170lbs.
Valet bike parking? That’s right there is such a thing! And it’s not your typical valet parking at a fancy hotel or restaurant. That is a funny image though…..imagine rolling up amongst the high rollers in their Mercedes Benz’s and BMW’s and giving the parking attendant your ebike and keys! Anyways back to it.
OElectric bikes are limited by US Federal law to 750 watts and 20 miles per hour. There are a lot of bikes and kits on the market that advertise power as high as 1000 watts. Beware! There are two ways to measure wattage, the initial surge or “peak wattage” that the motor puts out when it is first starting up, and the continuous wattage that the motor operates under. A lot of very high wattage motors are advertising their peak wattage, not their continuous output. As a consumer it is very difficult to tell the difference, but you can always ask. A tipoff would be a relatively large motor such as 500 watts that operates on a lower voltage battery such as 36 volts. A genuine 500 watt (or larger) continuous output motor would generally use 48 volts or more.
You should always ride with absolute care when riding your electric bike. Never ride without a helmet. All it takes is one fall to seriously injure or even kill. It certainly does not hurt to equip yourself with additional safety gear such as elbow and knee pads. It really is better to be safe than sorry and many places may include such safety equipment as a mandatory item by law. Making the choice to operate an bicicleta eletrica rayon mountain bike is great, especially if you are doing it for a good cause like helping out the environment. Every effort counts.
Usually speaking, an electric bicycle is heavy and some cheaper ones may be heavier because they use lead acid batteries. So if the battery runs out on the way, you will feel difficult to pedal.
One other important consideration when deciding which electric folding bike is right for you is its weight. Although these ebikes can fold up and be carried about, you should be mindful about how heavy it weighs. You want to avoid lugging around a 65 lb monster with you on the train or bus! Ideally your foldable electric bike should be lightweight and not weigh more than 57 lbs (about 25 kg).
